Action Planning

Although writing about own self sounds easy, but it is not! Summing up about twenty years of living experience in just about 300 words is not easy task. Here I am about to write the fourth blog and the final blog. There is huge room for improvement and we learn from as we learn from our mistakes.

One of my weak point is I feel shy while talking in mass though I am frank at one to one conversation. With frequent presentations during the whole course of Computing at Islington College, I mainly target to improve my skills of presenting in bulk. Along with speaking it would be a great advantage if I could enhance my writing. There are a lot of writing tasks such as the blogs itself, personal statement and many other writing assessments coming in the future semesters.

While working on the first assignment of introduction to programming I faced lot of complications while finishing the assessment, nevertheless, as this is my first semester I plan to take extra classes during the four months of summer vacation, go through various sites that improves my Java programming and I resolute to practice various programming/coding on day-to-day basis, as I aim to be a programmer in the future. To be a successful programmer, I give my full dedication towards learning Java as I have intended to do my final year project based on Java programming.

As I have mentioned time and again, companies while hiring look out for problem solvers rather than degree holders, although I can solve problems, but it may take a tad more time, I plan to improve my timing by solving word puzzles, Sudoku, quiz games and many others during my free time.

Skills Attributes and Employment Development

Basically, Total of six semesters during the stay at Islington College, every semester is divided into four modules. As this is my first semester at Islington College, it includes Problem Solving for IT, Introduction to Programming, Study Skills for Computing and the last one is Logic.

Problem solving for IT provides range of problem solving techniques and to use spreadsheet and databases as problem solving tools. On completion of the module I will be able to create real-life Database application using PC-based DBMS. As I have mentioned in my previous blog that now-a-days companies while recruiting employees look out for problem solvers rather than degree holders, this module crafts us as problem solver aiding in the later part of our life.

Introduction to programming is another module of the first semester; it is designated to develop interest, ability and confidence in using a programming language within in a graphical environment. While in the first semester, it will help gain the basic knowledge and experience to solve simple programming problems using established techniques. I, planning to be a programmer and in the meanwhile Java uplifting in the global market, introduction to programming will benefit me to survive in this competitive world.

I have always been shy to talk in a mass. Study skills for computing, our third module, will help build up confidence and self-esteem. This module develops skills necessary to support academic study with frequent presentations and writing tasks. This module provides a clear understanding of what is required at university level and fully develops academic potential. It will aid while working at IT companies during presentations or any other functions.

Logic, the final module of the semester is the easiest one, which develops a range of mathematical techniques, set theory, logic, relations and functions. It will help in applying the methods to a range of practical problems.
