Starting Off With Personal Development

While starting off with the modules in the second semester, Personal Development is one of them. We were given list of abilities that an IT student should have developed on the first workshop class. Below are the two of the abilities that I should develop as a Computing student.

1.       Work as a development team member, recognizing the different roles within a team and different ways of organizing teams.

Whether a company is large or minor, it requires team work to complete any given task. In any company team has to be created in order to work smoothly. For example, while creating a web page, a team of designer, developer and marketer is required. The designer can only design the page, he can work only work on the designs of the page. If the designer starts to market the product he will not be successful. Same goes with the developer, he writes the code and develops the page, he cannot market the page as well as design the web page. The marketer only can advertise their web page using several strategies, he can use his strategy in the market but he cannot design or develop the web page. So, for the work to run smoothly, designer, developer and marketer has to work together.

2.       Recognise the professional, moral and ethical issues involved in exploiting computer technology and be guided by appropriate professional, ethical and legal practices.

Day by day the number of cybercrimes is immensely increasing. Hacker are hacking into different systems and destroying it. Some years ago, a hacker hacked into the social networking site of the president of America, later he was caught and put in jail. Piracy, another main problem is also increasing day by day. To stop these cybercrimes people are practicing ethical hacking, which is professional and is legal too. There are several institution that teach ethical hacking and other legal practices.
