fear and respect

From the past till date, people follow leaders or great personalities. We all know Adolf Hitler as well as Mahatma Gandhi, they revolutionized their respective countries, the only difference was that every people FEARED Hitler whereas Mahatma Gandhi was one of the RESPECTED and idolized personality.

As the word “Fear” strikes a conversation, it makes me think that people decide with their brain. Having fear in mind while doing works will only pressurize the person. Looking back upon Hitler, Germans followed him with fear in their mind. The follower knew that a small mistake could result in their life sentence. Hitler was only feared till he lived, the day he died, feeling of fear from the people drove away.

Whereas, while talking about “Respect”, it strikes in my mind that people decide with their heart. Having respect means having affection toward the person. Reflecting back upon Mahatma Gandhi, people believed in him, people were ready to die for him, that’s what is called respect.

It’s easy to make people feared but hard to get respected. Although getting respected and being idolized is not a small matter. Putting fear in other’s mind means disrespecting and dominating others, that’s what Hitler did. Loving others, respecting other, admiring others’ views was what Mahatma Gandhi did. Nevertheless, both did revolutionized their respective counties, the day Hitler died, people stopped following his rules, whereas, it is opposite in the context of Mahatma Gandhi.

The feeling of fear rises against someone for having capability of impairing others mentally or physically, in contrary respect is for the one who admires others and don’t have the mentality of harming. ‘Feeling of respect and fear doesn’t arise for the same person’ nonetheless there are few examples proving against the statement. In the case of ‘Muammar Gaddafi’, he served as the ruler of Libyan Arab Republic and transformed his country, while in the process of transformation of his native land, he put fear in the people all around the world, although the people of his own country respect him for the positive changes others from round the world dreaded him and finally assassinated him.

confidence and arrogance

The debate between Confidence and Arrogance has been long a lasting topic. The aspect that differentiates confidence with arrogance is the word ‘OVER’, arrogance is over-confidence. If a person is over-confident, it reflects arrogant character.

Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo!, a woman managing colossal social networking site as huge as ‘Yahoo!’ is not a laughing matter. Some people can’t handle pressure while working in a small firm whereas Marissa Mayer is an inspiration for all the ladies around the globe.

Kanye West, one of the big personalities in the music industry can be categorized as arrogant because he demands that he be rewarded for all of his work and gets upset when he's not invited to functions or loses an award to someone else. He performs, we can say he’s talented but the way he acts on his loss in any musical awards is not overwhelming, which in other words is ‘Arrogance’. Persona such as him should motivate other uprising musicians, but his cocky character could destroy him in near future.

Both, Confident and Arrogant person have their goals to reach. The only difference between them is the way they reach their goals. Most commonly, confident ones are the respected ones and arrogant are the feared ones.

Taking an example in a firm, an arrogant boss who always ignores others opinions and always follows his/her own method is mostly feared rather than respected by his employees. However, a confident boss, who still admires others ideas even though he/she doesn’t agree with it is mostly respected. The ones who are confident show with their works whereas the arrogant ones show-off only with their words.

In the case of arrogance, the level of competency is pretty much high because the arrogant person has the mentality of winning the competition by hook or by crook, which can cause feud amongst competent. The mental torture while competing in the context can cause various problems to the health itself. Whereas, self-reliant are the ones who keep calm and composure which makes them the winner at the end of the day. 

My roles

From the minute I wake up to the minute I go to bed I play role every single day. Not just me everyone has their roles in their life. Sometimes I’m a loving brother sometimes I become most annoying one. Same goes with my parents, the role I play vividly depends upon my mood on given day. As I’m most of time happy; I want the people around me to be happy, so every now and then I crack up jokes and make other laugh. So certainly making people laugh has become a daily role for me.

One early morning I woke up, drank a cup of tea went to my room and cleaned my entire room, just to surprise my parents, which I hadn’t done for a long period of time. Later, as my parents entered my room they were full of surprise, they even pinched each other as they felt they were dreaming. As they reacted, I myself was left astonished because that wasn’t the way I had expected them to react. I expected them to just say “good job, son”. I realized that, the threshold for making my parents happy little under the line. As I was trying to make my parents happy; I got more than what I had expected. Therefore seeing my parents happy made me excited.

I go for a power walk every evening, one day my sister kiddingly asked me for a ‘Dairy Milk’ before I was about to leave for my evening walk. I acted as I wouldn’t bring her the chocolate, although it was the only thing wondering in my mind during my whole walk. I brought her a chocolate, when I bought her the chocolate, she was very happy. She reacted the exact same way as I had expected. Although my sister loves me, I wanted more affection from her and I succeeded in doing so.

The day was too hot; I went to my college, attended classes as usual. As my class was about to end, one of my friends asked me to drop him at his home. Since I had a motor-cycle and the day was too hot, I explained I would give him a ride to his home. He was very happy and complemented me as a “life-saver”. He was very excited because he didn’t have to walk till home in the scorching sun. The way he was excited was the result I had expected. The only thing I tried achieving from him was more closeness in our friendship and I succeeded in doing so.

Those were the few roles I played in a single day. There were few other more, on the same day I was an annoying brother, disobedient son. Probably those three were the most noticeable roles I played during the whole day. Some roles are performed intentionally whereas some of the roles played would be unintentionally, but all roles are played to make own self or the person nearby happy.

Green IT

Green IT stands for Green Information Technology. Information Technology is essentially the design, implementation and management of computers that both individuals and businesses use.

In a nutshell, "Green" IT is composed of two things:

1.   Minimising the negative impact of information technology use on the environment

2.   Using information technology to help solve environmental issues

As you can see these are almost two areas at opposite poles. In our lives technology helps us to do everything from send a funny joke to our friends, to make sure the trains run on time, to allowing us to warn cities of tsunamis and earthquakes. We need it and it isn't going away any time soon. On the other hand a typical computer is made up of thousands of chemicals and if we put all the computers in the world together, they use massive amounts of electricity. (Anon., n.d.)
